Boulder Sister City Alliance
The Boulder Mante Sister City committee is pleased to be part of the formal Boulder Sister City Alliance (BSCA), which includes the chairpersons and an additional representative from each of the six Boulder Sister City relationships.
We are grateful to the city of Boulder for undertaking the establishment of a Sister City Plaza on the east side of the Municipal Building. The citizens of Boulder have for many years reached out to the people of the international communities in ways unique to each of our relationships. What a wonderful way to say thanks to the citizens of Boulder for their involvement. We are thankful to the staff of the Boulder Parks Department and to the artisans retained for the design work and for consulting with each of the Sister City groups to make sure that the special character of each community is expressed in the art work of the Sister City Plaza.
On May 17, the Sister City Plaza was formally dedicated. The then-Mayor of Mante, Jose Luis Castellanos, his wife Elsa Laura Martinez de Castellanos and six other representatives from Mante were able on hand for the formal dedication. Cindy Trautwein, a member of the Boulder-Mante Board was the primary coordinator of the activities of the May 17 dedication. This included publicity, coordinating school visits and celebratory activities at the Dushanbe Teahouse and surrounding area. For her work, Cindy will be recognized with one of the first Boulder Sister City Alliance awards to be presented by the Mayor of Boulder at the time of the anniversary of the dedication of the Sister City Plaza. |
